Common Purpose is presenting a course for Zimbabwean leaders in the Diaspora that will focus on the regeneration and development of Zimbabwe. It has been developed in response to increasing trends in emigration from Zimbabwe for social, economic and political reasons.
The course will focus on providing people with the inspiration, skills and connections to become better leaders and make an effective and positive contribution to the future economic and social development of Zimbabwe.
Date to be announced Johannesburg / Gauteng
Listen to a podcast featuring Alison Coburn, Director of Common Purpose International, speaking about the two pilot courses in London and Johannesburg which attracted over 70 participants.
It is designed primarily for Zimbabweans living in the UK and South Africa. We will also include people who are not Zimbabwean, and who are able to demonstrate a strong commitment to, and involvement in, the country.
Beyond this, the participants will have a track record of leadership and will come from a wide range of sectors and backgrounds.
The content of the courses will include modules on leadership and diversity; the current context of Zimbabwe; exploring development organisations; the barriers to success; the role of business, the media and the public sector in society; leadership and change in complex situations and effective leadership in the Diaspora. There will be contributions from a range of senior leaders both inside and outside Zimbabwe and from across the sectors. The aim is to provide a range of perspectives and ensure that the discussions remain relevant to the current situation in the country.
