Background

Common Purpose is an independent organisation with section 21 and public benefit status. Common Purpose South Africa was launched in 2000 with the backing of Cyril Ramaphosa and Nicky Oppenheimer both of whom are our Patrons.

Common Purpose was started in the UK in 1989, and the organisation has now spread to Germany, Sweden, the Netherlands, Ireland, Hungary and South Africa. The organisation is also in the process of establishing offices in Ghana, India, Turkey, Switzerland and France.
