Common Purpose is an independent NGO that aims to create better leaders at work and in society. It runs leadership development courses in many parts of the world.

The objective of Common Purpose South Africa is the advancement of education for the public benefit.

Common Purpose South Africa was established as a Section 21 company in 2000, with company registration number 2000/016751/08. It is one of a broader family of Common Purpose companies registered in 12 countries internationally. It operates under a licence agreement with Civilia, a UK based company which holds the intellectual property of Common Purpose internationally.

The purpose of Common Purpose South Africa is described in its governing document as:

"the advancement of education for the public benefit and in particular but without prejudice to the generality of the foregoing to educate men and women and young people of school age, from a broad range of geographical, political, ethnic, institutional, social and economic backgrounds in constitutional, civic, economic and social studies with special emphasis on civil and social awareness and responsibility in the Republic of South Africa"



Company information and accounts

Common Purpose is an international, not-for-profit organisation that has been running leadership courses which mix people from the private, public and not-for-profit sectors for over 20 years.

There are Common Purpose entities in a number of other countries around the world . All have not for profit status in their country and deliver Common Purpose courses in their country under a license. The head license is with the Common Purpose Charitable Trust.
